Free Guided Tours: ANIMALES A ESCENA Exhibition

Teatro Fernán-Gómez. Centro de Arte
From October 2, 2009-January 10, 2010 0

Animales a Escena: Ópera, Teatro y Ballet is a lovely account of the effect that animals have had on theatre, opera, and dance from the end of the nineteenth century until today. Through a selection of photographs, costumes, short performances, models, and sketches, they recreate some of the shows that have used the animal world as an integral plot structure, such as “ Swan Lake ” and “The Magic Flute".

The exposition gives an overview of some of the emblematic elements of productions in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries like “Swan Lake” and “The Spider's Feast,” such as figures and small theatres, the costumes designed by cubist Fernand Lèger for “The Creation of the World,” performed by the Swedish Ballet, or the costumes and puppets from other classics like “The Magic Flute,” “The Fables of La Fontaine ,” or “Sleeping Beauty" .

Hablar en Arte's program of guided tours, designed for the general public as well as private groups, aims to offer visitors the resources necessary for understanding the creative processes and their relationship to other elements of scenery. In this way, apart from the study of these performances, we hope to raise awareness of the world of scenic arts.
