CAPP - workshop by Sarah Lewis at Centro Huarte

Spain

Centro Huarte, Pamplona, Navarra

hablarenarte: and Centro Huarte organize "If you do not pay attention to me, I WILL NOT PAY ATTENTION TO YOU" a workshop proposed and facilitated by Sarah Margarita Lewis that takes place in Huarte, Navarra, between 6 and 8 of October.

"If you do not pay attention to me, I WILL NOT PAY ATTENTION TO YOU"  is a thoughtful and discursive proposal of reflection on individualism and lack of interpersonal care in contemporary society.

In the words of Sarah Margarita Lewis: “If we think of scarcity as the driving force of an economic model, then, given today’s incessant inundation of information, what is becoming increasingly scarce is the attention we are able to pay and command. The foundation of this economic model is contingent upon interpersonal relationality. How does the attention we transact affect our sense of worth? Can we engage each other and avoid the more incessant and individualistic tendencies of personality expression? How could the collective offer another possibility of accruing attention wealth?”

Sarah Margarita Lewis is working professionally and internationally for the last 10 years as a performer, director, curator and educator. She has extensive knowledge in taking a multidisciplinary approach to the performing arts and has developed and facilitated projects that create platforms for discussions relating to the roles people play in society. Sarah Margarita Lewis will lead another workshop within the CAPP programme at Agora in Berlin.

CAPP is an ambitious transnational cultural programme intended for collaborative research on the collaborative arts and the proliferation of such practices. CAPP aims to promote reflection on how collaboration works in contemporary art, as well as to offer artists a structure to facilitate their work with communities.

The first line of CAPP activities in Spain is a series of workshops to promote vocational training for artists and related professionals interested in working in collaborative proposals. The workshops seek a transfer of knowledge and to experiment with unconventional approaches and formats.

CAPP is supported on a European level by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union (EACEA), and on a national level by Spain's Public Agency for Cultural Action (AC / E). European partners of CAPP are: Create Ireland (Dublin, Ireland), Agora (Berlin, Germany), Heart of Glass (Liverpool, GB), Kunsthalle Osnabrück (Osnabrück, Germany), Live Art Development Agency (London, GB), Tate Liverpool (Liverpool, GB), Ludwig Múzeum (Budapest, Hungary) m-cult (Helsinki, Finnland).

hablarenarte:, the Spanish partner of the network has created a national union among ACVic (Vic, Cataluña), Centro Huarte (Huarte, Navarra), Medialab Prado (Madrid), Tabakalera (San Sebastian, Basque Country), the entities that organize the activities of the European network CAPP in the Spain.
