"ESPACIOS VITALES. ARTE Y CREACIÓN EN LA UAM"

SALA DE EXPOSICIONES DE LA UAM, EL PABELLÓN B Y LA FACULTAD DE FILOSOFÍA Y LETRAS
From the 4th to the 20th of December 2007

Espacios Vitales is a reflection on the creative process of contemporary art and the ways in which the artists and the audience relate to space. The work that has been created for a determinate location –beyond the limits of the location dedicated to artistic exhibition- aspire to call the attention of the audience that passes by every day, causing new looks and relations with the surroundings, and reactions of uncertainty, surprise, doubt or rejection. During three weeks, the Room of Exhibition of UAM, the Pavilion B and the Faculty of Filosofía y Letras (Humanities) will welcome the projects by seven young multidisciplinary artists who have been suggested to participate in different areas of the university and to reflect on the way in which each of them intends the notion of space, through pieces designed on purpose for this exhibition.

Artists: Óliver Añón, Nuria Fuster, Fernando García, Juan López, Esther Mañas y Arash Moori, Guzmán de Yarza Blache. + info

TODOS SOMOS ARTISTAS

“We are all artists”. On the basis of the assertion by the brilliant Joseph Beuys, a project of weekend in a hostel has been developed. It has been set for the initiative “Convivir es vivir” by the Direccion General de Juventud de la Comunidad de Madrid. Moreover, from 2006/2007, it takes place in the schools as an extracurricular activity
.

Sure that both creation and contemplation of art are indispensable resources for children education, the association Hablar en Arte has planned a series of activities that would complete a cycle of “creation of artists”. From simple exercises of initial introduction to art to the culmination with an exhibition of the works by the children, the activity poses as a cultural challenge that they have to pass together in order to turn into true artists.

Photography exhibition "EL OTRO LADO DEL ALMA"

PHOTOGRAPHY CENTRE ISLA DE TENERIFE
Del 6 al 30 de septiembre de 2007

Our vision of Cuban photography is still remarkably influenced by the iconic portraits of Che Guevara and the great exploit of epic photography. Due to political and historic reasons, the Cuban photographic production not linked with the social reality of the Revolution did not arouse any interest for many years. In the first place, the documentary religious photography has not been promoted by artistic institutions, causing an enormous lack of repercussion on the audience. On the other side, the formal opening of Cuban Photography to more “conceptual” tendencies did not occur until the 80‘s, which permitted the development of new approaches to the religious themes.

However, the selection presented by the Photography centre “Isla de Tenerife” in the rooms of the Circulo de Bellas Artes, attempted to emphasize the individual interpretation of every single artist on the collective spiritual memory of the nation that has been called “Latino-Africana” by its leader Fidel Castro. + info
