INGRÁFICA. International Festival of Contemporary Engravings in the City of Cuenca is an initiative of Hablar en Arte, promoted by the Cuenca town hall with backing from the City Consortium. It is the first annual, non-commercial summoning of worldwide graphic art in Spain.
Without precedence in Europe, the first run will take place from November 6 to December 14 , 2008 in Cuenca , a candidate for the 2016 Cultural Capital of Europe.
INGRÁFICA was born as an international platform to support the creation, promotion and diffusion of contemporary graphic and serial artwork, and it is meant to continue in the successive years to come. The Festival was conceived with two intentions: to form a space of discovery and reflection among art print professionals, as well as to introduce the best of this discipline to the general public .
INGRÁFICA's programm includes both exhibitions and activities, which cover everything from technical traditions to new artistic directions .
For six weeks, Cuenca will turn into the most important site for engravings and art prints: more than 120 national and international artists will show their work at the Festival. Urban art, convocations for young creators, conferences with professionals, work revisions and even guided tours are the foremost activities of this festival, which will utilize the most expository and culturally significant sites in the city .
INGRÁFICA will take place in Cuenca 's principle expositive and cultural spaces, as well as in centers of study and creation such as the University of Castilla-La Mancha and the School of Arts .
INGRÁFICA was designed and organized by Hablar en Arte, a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion, development, investigation, protection and diffusion of activities related to the plastic, stage and audiovisual arts.
