"Reproduction, Repetition and Rebellion. Multiplicity in Spanish Emerging Art" is a collective exhibition of Spanish artists designed for itinerating in Europe. Curated by Ingráfica, the exhibition supports the network of international collaborations, that the festival has acquired in the years of its existence.
The first itinerancy stop was in the Cervantes Institute of Vienna (Austria), between May and June 2010, as a parallel activity to the program “Multiple Matters. Grafische Konzepte”, organized by the Künstlerhaus within the European Project “International Print Network”. The next venue was the Brukenthal National Museum of Sibiu (Romania), as part of the official program of the International Experimental Engraving Biennial of Romania, IEEB4. The exhibition was shown in the International Center of Graphic Arts (MGLC) of Ljubljana (Slovenia) from 18 February to 3 April 2011.
The next stop of this itinerancy exhibition took place from April 14 to May 6, 2011 in Belgrade (Serbia), which was exhibited in two adjacent venues: the Center for Graphic Art and Visual Researches AKADEMIJA and The Windows Gallery, both venues depended on the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Belgrade.
In October the exhibit visited The New Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb, Croatia.
Exhibition
The exhibition follows a concept based on the current use of Spanish artists that give the artwork and other art forms multiple beyond the purely decorative or aesthetic.
It is organized into three conceptual blocks:
- Reproduction: understood as an original copy, usually by mechanical means (either a Tórculo, a copier, a plotter, etc.).
- Repetition: Multiple intrinsic value of art as discussed in the field of graphic art and other artistic techniques such as photography or video (original debate-copy)
- Rebellion: taken on one side as a defence of the new Spanish production in the graphic art and derivatives, and on the other being as mean widely used by artists as an expression of social or political ideas.
