10 Encuentro Cultura y Ciudadanía
CGAC (Galician Center for Contemporary Art) and the Pobo Galego Museum in Santiago de Compostela
In September 2024, the 10th edition of the Culture and Citizenship Forum was held, entitled 10 Years: Shifts, Challenges, and Desires for Our Cultural System, for which we had the opportunity to be part of the advisory committee. This group of professionals was made up of Tania Adam (researcher, curator, and founder of Radio Africa Magazine); Fran Quiroga (researcher, cultural producer, general coordinator, and mediator at Concomitentes); Mario Obrero (poet and cultural agent); José Luis Pérez Pont (artistic director of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria's bid to become European Capital of Culture) and Flavia Introzzi (cultural manager, curator, and member of hablarenarte).
This working group set out to take stock, update and project the future of the ten years of the Culture and Citizenship program, collecting, testing the evolution and problematizing the most relevant issues, trends, debates, projects, experiences and lessons learned during these years, and pointing out others for the present and future years.
Work was carried out based on different thematic areas:
-
10 years of Culture and Citizenship
-
Sociopolitical paradigms of culture
-
Institutionality, cultural policies, and citizenship
-
The renaturalization of culture: regenerative cultural practices
-
Dialogues and connections with social and political contexts
-
Demographic transformations, new citizenship.
-
The projection and territorial overflow of cultural policies.
-
Education, mediation, and critical pedagogies.
-
Digital cultural infrastructures for access and participation.
