Ingráfica. Festival Internacional de Grabado Contemporáneo. Ciudad de Cuenca is an hablarenarte: initiative promoted by Cuenca City Council with the support of the City Consortium. Its aim is to host a major non-commercial event every year with the world of graphic and serialised art in Spain, with special emphasis on researching alternatives to the established systems of contemporary art exhibition and on heightening the visibility of artistic projects under new formulas of “consuming” art in the 21st century.

The festival, the first of its kind in Europe, is taking place from 6 November to 14 December 2008 in Cuenca, candidate for European Capital of Culture 2016. In this first instance of the festival, exhibitions, meetings for new creators, urban interventions, conferences with professionals and monographic workshops are taking place all over the city.

After the success of the initiative, the second festival takes place in one year’s time, from 6 November to 13 December 2009, in the same setting. By then, the city and its visitors are able to participate fully in the experience, which brings together some of the most innovative ideas in the sphere of graphic art in various buildings and urban spaces, widening the range of exhibitions and other activities for the public.

The two festival events consolidate the Ingráfica brand, both in Spain and abroad, turning it into an international platform for supporting creative art and publicising contemporary graphic art.
