The “A ciegas. Lecturas escénicas en la oscuridad” project is a dual programme of workshops and staged performances taking place simultaneously in Madrid and Barcelona, with people who are either partially or totally blind.

The workshops, which run over forty hours, concentrate on devising and rehearsing a show suitable for all audiences in which darkness is the main feature of the set, giving centre stage to sound effects and words.

“A ciegas” sets out to improve social inclusion for visually impaired people using a combination of literature, theatre and dramatization. Its other purpose is to promote the exchange of experiences and roles in sensory perception, making voice and hearing into a channel of communication in which new sensory practices are opened up.

Workshops directed and led by: Josep Pedrals (Barcelona); Julio Jara and Ismeni Espejel (Madrid)

In partnership with: ONCE
With support from: Obra Social Fundación La Caixa
