Animales a escena. Ópera, teatro y ballet.Guided tour program

Madrid

Teatro Fernán Gómez. Centro de Arte. Plaza de Colón, 4. Madrid

Through a selection of photographs, costume figurines, puppet theatres, models and sketches, the “Animales a escena” exhibition recreates some of the shows that have taken the animal world as their main theme.

The exhibition enables visitors to trace the most important elements of contemporary staging of these performances, such as original figurines and puppet theatres dating from the late 19th and early 20th centuries used for “Swan Lake” and “The Spider's Feast”; costume designs by the cubist Fernand Léger for “La création du monde”, performed by the Ballets suédois; and the original costumes and puppets from other classics such as “The Magic Flute”, “La Fontaine fables” and “Sleeping Beauty”.

The program of guided visits, organised by hablarenarte: and available for the general public and groups booked in advance, offers visitors the resources they need for understanding the creative process behind the exhibits and how they interact with other parts of the production. In this way, and in addition to the study of the items exhibited, we hope to contribute to improving knowledge of the world of performing arts.
