Descansa. Jornadas para profesorado
"A tired body is a body that can easily be controlled:
resting is a revolutionary act"
In the shade of a palm tree, let’s meet—tired, meeting despite and with our weariness. We’ve been carrying the entire semester on our backs—the strike, the student-to-teacher ratios—and it would be nice to have something cool to drink, acknowledge the burden, set it down on the ground, open a parasol, and take a nap together.
There’s a summer drowsiness in the air, and there’s also the coolness of the exhibition halls—climate-controlled refuges that preserve artworks and shadows. Amid the photographs by Consuelo Kanaga and David Goldblatt, we could seek out a spot that invites us to lie down. Find the corner where our heart rate slows and we feel like being, feeling, thinking.
Ask ourselves questions. Is it possible to rest among images? And among these specific images, which speak to us of fatigue and fragility, of resilience, of ordinary beauty, and of social and racial struggles? How can we give this violent world a rest?
To soothe this time together, we’ll be joined by Vicente Arlandis and Paula Miralles (from the Taller Placer collective), who, among other activities, will present a variation on their piece *El esfuerzo constante de ganarse la vida*.
Sponsored by Fundación MAPFRE and hablarenarte, *Descansa: Workshops for Educators* is conceived as a space for rest, reflection, and enjoyment at the intersection of art and education. The workshops build on the two-year journey of *Palma. Grupo de imaginación educativa*, which is think tank for teachers, mediators, and artists.
