Eulàlia Valldosera. Dependencias. Mediation program

Madrid

Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía. Calle Santa Isabel, 52. Madrid

The exhibition Eulàlia Valldosera. Dependencias brings together a wide selection of works by this artist spanning from 1990 to the present day. The exhibition was conceived to achieve two goals. Firstly, to present her most recent work, produced especially for this exhibition and of which it could be that Valldosera is embarking on a new stage in her artistic career. Secondly, to review the development of her work from the early days of her career up to the end of the 1980s.
The exhibition features three participatory works that invite viewers to interact with the pieces. “Dependencias” (2008) is the master work, produced in large format and used as a framework for the other items in the exhibition. In “Botellas Interactivas” (Forever Living Products nº3) (2008), the spectator-user of the work gains access to a series of conversations or testimonials that come from inside detergent bottles exactly like the ones we have at home. The work, “El periodo”, appeared in her notebooks in 1996 but was produced in 2006. It refers to female organic cycles and also daily routine, the calendar and the repetition of gestures: a baby's pram containing a light source is propelled by the public and moves in a semicircle, displacing the shadows of a series of wine glasses, recreating the luminous nature of a film event.
Given the participatory nature with which the work invites visitors to become involved, hablarenarte: is collaborating on this occasion with the Reina Sofía by coordinating a group of mediators during gallery opening times with the intention of informing and helping each visitor to get the most out of observing the items and fully interacting with them.
