Actuación de Olaia Pazos en Biblioteca Escuelas Pías

Madrid

Biblioteca de la UNED, Escuelas Pías. Calle Somberete, 15. Madrid

Further down is the College of San Fernando (...). The temple of this house is one of the most beautiful in Madrid (...) and protrudes significantly from all the others here in Madrid. (Ramón de Mesonero Romanos).

The second guest of "Palabras Habladas" the poet, actress and singer Olaia Pazos, performes at the ancient church and actual library of Escuelas Pias, located in the Lavapies neighbourhood. Her intervention treats ideas and texts of the often forgotten women that took part in the literary movement of 1927.

In her performances, Olaia Pazos (A Coruña, 1980) combines her strong presence on stage with her enormous  skills in poetry and theater. Originally from Galicia, Olaia went through several theater groups and schools in Galicia and the Basque country to arrive finally in 2005 to Madrid.

After a turbulent history in the twentieth century, the ruins of the Church of the Escualas Pías were declared "Cultural Heritage" and later, in 2001, began the rehabilitation for the UNED library.
