"Residencies Exchange" Curatorial Programme of Estampa 2018

Estampa Art Fair

Estampa Art Fair / IFEMA Madrid / Matadero Madrid 18th to 21st October 2018

For the second consecutive year, hablarenarte is organizing Residencies Exchange as the Curatorial Programme of Estampa Art Fair. This meeting enhances artist residencies as fundamental spaces for creation, artists’ mobility and the intercultural connection.

In recent years the number of artist residencies around the world has significantly increased. Each programme acts in a specific context, with particular resources and missions, but all share the aim to offer their residents the possibility to develop their work and to internationalize the cultural panorama. Due to the wide heterogeneity of exitent residency formats, it is necessary to bring professionals closer so that they can exchange experiences and strategies.

Throughout three days of Residencies Exchange, directors and curators of artist residencies in Europe and Asia are invited to participate in various internal and public activities. The aim is to introduce the international participants to the Spanish contemporary art field, build a space for critical observation and generate networks between local and international cultural agents. Therefore the programme includes:

- Three days with working sessions with the international and Spanish participants (including a workshop with the philosopher Amador Fernández-Savater, who recently finished his stay at the Centro de Residencias Artísticas Matadero).

- Meetings with local artists, f. ex. at the fair and with the public activity "Speedarting".

- Visits to cultural centers of Madrid

In the current edition we have invited to participate Lily Liu of Taipei Artist Village (Taipei, Taiwan), Christoph Tannert of Künstlerhaus Bethanien (Berlín, Alemania), Anne Langlois of 40m Cube Generator (Rennes, Francia), Sally De Kunst of Arc Artist Residency (Romainmôtier, Suiza), Piotr Sikora of MeetFactory (Praga, República Checa), Helen Carey of Fire Station (Dublin, Irlanda), Elisa Troiano of Cripta747 (Turín, Italia), Roser Colomar of Cultura Resident program - Consorci de Museos de la Comunitat Valenciana (Valencia), Manuela Villa Acosta and Gema Melgar of Matadero Madrid, Andrea Pacheco of Felipa Manuela (Madrid), Ivan Cicchetti of Espositivo (Madrid), Fabienne Aguado of Casa de VelázquezAmelie López-Aranguren of Campo Adentro and Ane Agirre of Tabakalera Donosti.
