School of the Present. Tangier

Tangier

Artistic practice helps to imagine desirable futures.

The ways we've changed

Workshop with the artist, musician and educator Christian Fernández Mirón

December 13 and 14, 2023

4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Taking place between the Spanish Hospital and the CE Ramón y Cajal, Tangier

Through memory, orality and writing, we establish a rare dialogue between children and adults, sharing interests, contrasting experiences and realities from the intergenerational premise of the School of the Present.

What was childhood like before and what is it like now?

What was being played?

What was scary, what was exciting?

What has changed in the spaces we inhabit?

How did we learn and learn?

Do we relate in other ways?

As we have changed?

Valuing the subjectivity of each participant as a reflection of their own history, we play at being interviewers and asking questions, in small groups, to get to know each of the older people using curiosity and sharing memories.

See video about the project here.

School of the Present is a project curated by hablarenarte that is developed in collaboration with the Cervantes Institute and its headquarters. School of the Present collectively addresses urgent themes and problems from an artistic perspective, in dialogue with schools, associations and the cultural institutions themselves that host its activities in different cities.
