To mark the bicentenary of Mexican Independence and Revolution centenary year, the “México ilustrado” exhibition presents drawings and prints published in books, posters and magazines between 1920 and 1950, looking back over the rich cultural imagination.
For the first time in Madrid, there is to be an anthological exhibition focusing on sculptor Marino Marini, one of the leading exponents of 20th century Italian art, and displaying nearly a hundred items that include drawings, paintings and sculptures.
To commemorate the bicentenary of the Second of May Uprising, the exhibition, “Madrid 1808. Ciudad y Protagonistas”, attempts to show the role of ordinary people during the events that foreshadowed the contemporary Spanish era.
“Ilustración y liberalismo” is about the changes occurring in Spain in the transition from the 18th to the 19th centuries, when enlightened political reforms gave way to liberal ideas tested during the War of Independence.
The aim of the exhibition, “Forma y valor. Monedas africanas tradicionales”, is to introduce traditional African coins and to defend their value in the history of money and in monetary systems other than those in the west.
